Almost no rain
Last night a cold front blew through. There had been a forecast of occasional thunderstorms. Indeed, we could see the lightning and hear the thunder from here. But we scarcely got any rain. I cleaned the windshield of the car before turning in for bed so that I could tell whether it rained overnight. It did. There were a few rain drop spots on the windshield, indicating that there was a sprinkle.
One station in Round Rock registered 1.61 inches of rain. The storms skirted Austin and went through Round Rock.
Not the most likely chance for rain in November is Thursday. Current forecast is for a 20% chance with possible accumulation of 0.01 inch. There is no other significant rain forecast for the month.

Dry November
I'll start out with a quote from Mark Murray on facebook:
Here's my Weather Extra for today: There have only been 3 Novembers on record without a drop of rain recorded in Austin (1861, 1894 and 1897). We haven't recorded any rainfall in Austin so far this November. And, with rain chances looking slim through the end of the month, it's starting to look like we may have to add November 2012 to that list. Let's hope not...
Really! We were supposed to be switching to an El Niño pattern, but, that apparently didn't take hold -- at least not yet, or is it anymore? Anyway, El Niño normally gives us a wetter than average winter. I suppose we should take heart since winter officially doesn't start for nearly another month.
